Elaenia fallax Sclater, PL, 1861
Blue Mountain Elaenia, Elaenia fallax, is a passerine of the tyrant flycatcher family that lives in Jamaica. It is found on the island’s higher ground, especially in the Blue Mountains, the Port Royal Mountains and parts of St Andrew Parish. This bird was once treated as the same species as the Hispaniolan elaenia, but it is now recognised separately. It has a slight crest and the two sexes look alike. The species was described by Sclater in 1861.
