Grey-hooded Sunbird, Aethopyga primigenia, is a bird of montane Mindanao in the southern Philippines, where it lives in moist mountain forest and along forest edges. It is a member of the sunbird family and is confined to the island. Within its range it is linked to elevations above 1,000 m and can occur as high as 1,700 m. It is often found near banana flowers. Two forms are recognised: one from western, central and southern Mindanao, and another from the north-east, which is greyer overall and shows a white breast streak with a yellow spot.
