Hooded Tinamou

Hooded Tinamou, Nothocercus nigrocapillus, is a tinamou of the Andes in Peru and Bolivia. It belongs to the family Tinamidae and the order Tinamiformes. Its breeding range covers South America in those two countries. It lives in montane moist forest at elevations from 1,550 to 3,000 m. The species has two subspecies, one in north-western Peru and the other in central Peru and Bolivia. The male incubates the eggs and later cares for the young.
