Telophorus cruentus (Hemprich & Ehrenberg, 1828)

Rosy-patched Bushshrike, Telophorus cruentus, is a bird of the Malaconotidae family that breeds in north-eastern and east-central Africa. Its range includes Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and Tanzania. It was first described in 1828 by Hemprich and Ehrenberg. The species is the only member of its genus. It lives in subtropical or tropical dry shrubland. Four subspecies are recognised, with forms recorded from west-central Sudan, north-eastern Sudan, Eritrea, northern Ethiopia, south-eastern South Sudan, southern and eastern Ethiopia, Djibouti, Somalia, northern and eastern Kenya, and southern Kenya to north-eastern Tanzania.
