Tyrannidae — Tyrant Flycatchers, Calyptura

Rufous Twistwing, Cnipodectes superrufus, is a tyrant flycatcher of south-east Peru and north-west Bolivia. It was described in 2007 by Lane, Servat, Valqui and Lambert. The bird is tied to lowland Amazonian forest, especially places with dense Guadua bamboo, and has also been found in secondary forest beside bamboo stands. Its most notable feature is the modified outer wing feathers with stiff, twisted shafts, a trait it shares only with the Brownish Twistwing. It is known from Madre de Dios, Cuzco, Ucayali and Pando, and is also confirmed in Brazil.
