Tyrannidae — Tyrant Flycatchers, Calyptura

Short-tailed Field Tyrant, Muscigralla brevicauda, is a passerine of the Tyrannidae family that breeds in South America from Ecuador to northern Chile. It lives in open country, especially arid scrub, farmland and pasture, and there are also records from woodland. The bird has very long legs and a very short tail, which make it easy to pick out. It was first described in 1837 and remains the sole species in its genus. Its range also includes Peru, with scattered records from Colombia and other parts of Ecuador.
