Stub-tailed Spadebill, Platyrinchus cancrominus, is a passerine of the Tyrannidae family that breeds in Middle America from south-east and southern Mexico to western Costa Rica. It lives in tropical dry rainforest and tropical moist lowland forest. First described in 1860, it was once treated as the same bird as Platyrinchus mystaceus before being recognised as separate. It is identified by its stubby tail, broad bill and distinctive song, and it also has a notably reduced crown.
