5-Day Private Birds of Central Chile Tour
A five-day private birding circuit through the Central Andes, sclerophyll forest, Pacific coast, pelagic waters and wetlands near Santiago.
About this tour
This five-day tour links the main birding habitats of central Chile, from high Andean slopes and wetlands to sclerophyll forest, palm woodland and the Pacific coast. The route begins near Santiago at Farellones and Valle Nevado, continues through El Yeso Valley and La Campana National Park, and reaches coastal wetlands and offshore waters.
Central Chile’s endemic birds are a major focus, including searches for Crag Chilia, Moustached Turca, White-throated Tapaculo and Dusky Tapaculo. Mountain sessions also look for Diademed Sandpiper-Plover and Andean Condor, while the pelagic day targets albatrosses, shearwaters, petrels and storm-petrels. The final morning explores wetlands near Santiago for waterfowl and reedbed birds.
The package includes four hotel nights, listed meals, private transport, entrance fees, field equipment and a bilingual naturalist guide with wilderness first-responder training. Sightings remain subject to weather, sea conditions and bird movement.
