Private Tai Po Kau Birding Tour
Explore Hong Kong’s most extensive woodland on a private half- or full-day birding walk for forest residents and seasonal flycatchers, thrushes and other migrants.
About this tour
Explore the mature secondary woodland of Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve on a private birding outing designed for patient forest observation. The reserve rises from near the Tai Po coast toward the slopes of Tai Mo Shan and supports a varied community of native South China woodland birds.
Possible highlights include Black Bulbul, Fork-tailed Sunbird, Velvet-fronted Nuthatch, babblers and Crested Goshawk. Winter brings seasonal thrushes and other visitors, while spring passage can add migrating flycatchers. Forest sightings depend on current activity, and many birds may be heard before they are seen.
Choose a half-day or full-day format. The route covers about 3-6 km on nature paths, with an initial uphill section and further undulating terrain. Meeting time and the East Rail Line station pickup are confirmed for the season and itinerary.
