Tanzania Multi-Biome Tailor-Made Birding Safari
An extended tailor-made Tanzania birding safari linking several biomes for broader species diversity, with the route, duration and logistics designed after inquiry.
About this tour
Build an extended private birding safari across several of Tanzania’s major biomes with Gabriel Thomas and, where agreed, experienced local birders from his East African network.
Dorobo’s public birding information highlights the Somali–Maasai biome, Afrotropical highlands, Lake Victoria basin, northwestern Guinea–Congo forests, East African coast and Zambezian biome. Travelling beyond the classic northern circuit can produce a much broader list, with the source noting that a multi-biome safari may reach about 500 species.
This is a tailor-made programme rather than a fixed departure. Fourteen days is a planning baseline; the final length, route, flights or road transfers, accommodation, permits, inclusions and price are confirmed after inquiry.

Review target species, season, travel time and preferred habitats before confirming the final sequence.
Begin with dry-country woodland, bushland and savanna habitats selected for the season.
Search montane forest, upland grassland and escarpment habitats for highland specialities.
Explore lake-edge, wetland and woodland habitats when included in the final route.
Add forest-influenced birding for species not normally encountered on the northern circuit.
Use coastal forest, mangrove, estuary and shore habitats where season and logistics allow.
Search miombo woodland and associated habitats as part of the custom southern or western extension.
Use the final day for remaining targets or the agreed departure transfer. The programme may be extended beyond 14 days.
