Tierra del Fuego Big Four Birding Circuit
A four-day Tierra del Fuego crossing for Magellanic Plover, Ruddy-headed Goose, White-bellied Seedsnipe and Magellanic Woodpecker.
About this tour
This route connects four sharply different birding settings across Tierra del Fuego. Rio Grande’s northern steppe, saline lagoons and Atlantic coast open the circuit; the second day reaches the Cullen area for grassland, waterfowl and the endangered Ruddy-headed Goose. The journey then turns south through forest and lake country toward Garibaldi Pass.
A high-Andean walk on day three is dedicated to White-bellied Seedsnipe before the route continues to Ushuaia. The final day uses the southern beech forests and coast of Tierra del Fuego National Park for Magellanic Woodpecker and other Fuegian birds. Private transport, guiding, lunch boxes and accommodation in Rio Grande and Ushuaia are included, while dinners are excluded.

Itinerary
Day 1
Rio Grande grasslands and coast
Arrive in Rio Grande and bird northern grassland and Atlantic coastal habitat for Magellanic Plover and shorebirds.
Day 2
Cullen area
Travel north through steppe and coastal habitat in search of Ruddy-headed Goose and other open-country birds.
Day 3
Rio Grande to Ushuaia and Garibaldi Pass
Cross the island toward Ushuaia, stopping at lakes and forests before a high-Andes search for White-bellied Seedsnipe.
Day 4
Tierra del Fuego National Park
Spend the final day in national park forest and coastal habitat, focusing on Magellanic Woodpecker and Fuegian birds.
