About this tour

San Sebastian de la Selva can be visited for one, two or three days, making it suitable either as a focused forest stop or as part of a wider northern Misiones route. Visits are often combined with the Route 101 and Uruzu access points to Urugua-i Provincial Park, which lie along the approach to the reserve. The final balance between these sites depends on the chosen duration and current access.

Around the lodge, field time covers forest, bamboo, feeders and open viewpoints used at dawn and dusk. Short-tailed Nighthawks may be watched as they descend to drink in the evening. In the surrounding forest, the search can turn to Black-throated Trogon and Robust Woodpecker, along with Rusty-breasted Nunlet and Ochre-faced Tody-Flycatcher. The call of Collared Forest-Falcon can reveal that elusive raptor, and observation points serve the Red-ruffed Fruitcrow and Plovercrest display areas.

Other published specialties include Ocellated Bamboowren, Variegated and Speckle-breasted Antpittas, Yellow-browed Woodpecker, Violet-capped Woodnymph and Blackish Rail. Masked Water-Tyrant, Scaled Dove and Common Tody-Flycatcher are highlighted as especially localized within Argentina. These names define the search focus, not a sighting guarantee. Day 2

Spend the main field day on San Sebastian trails, including bamboo, feeder areas and forest observation points. Dawn and dusk provide additional opportunities around the lodge, while target selection responds to current activity.
Day 3
Final San Sebastian session or second Urugua-i stop

Use the remaining field time for targets not encountered earlier, either within San Sebastian or at the most suitable Urugua-i access point on departure. One- and two-day bookings use a shortened selection of these same supported sites.
