Small-Group Bird Photography Walkabout at Dru Point
A three-hour small-group birding and bird-photography session at Dru Point, combining a focused discussion with guided field practice and individual questions.
About this tour
Join Coreena Vieth for a small-group bird photography session at Dru Point Bicentennial Park in Margate. Each walkabout begins with a focused discussion about one aspect of photographing birds. The topic provides a useful starting point, while the questions and challenges brought by participants help shape the conversation.
The group then moves into the park to photograph the birds encountered and put ideas into practice. Coreena continues to guide while photographing alongside the group, explaining what she notices and how she approaches changing situations. Participants can test settings and techniques, ask questions in the moment and compare different ways of responding to light, movement and bird behaviour.
Numbers are limited to six so everyone has room for conversation and individual guidance. Sessions last approximately three hours and are offered on selected seasonal dates and times. Because the content develops from the group's questions and the birds present on the day, no two walkabouts follow exactly the same path.
Food and drinks are not included. Appelflap Cafe at Dru Point normally operates from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, so guests may purchase refreshments when its opening hours align with the session. Wild birds are never guaranteed, but the format is designed to make each encounter useful for learning and practice.
