Abd al-Kuri Sparrow, Passer hemileucus, is a passerine found on Abd al-Kuri Island in the Socotra archipelago, south-west of Socotra, where it lives on rocky slopes and near villages. It is an endemic bird of this small island in the Indian Ocean off the Horn of Africa. First described by Ogilvie-Grant and Forbes in 1899, it is recognised as a distinct species on the basis of its differences from the Socotra Sparrow. Its range is very limited, and the known population is below 1,000 birds.
