Abyssinian Crimsonwing, Cryptospiza salvadorii, is a bird of eastern Africa in the waxbill family, with breeding recorded in Africa: ec, e. It was described by Reichenow in 1892. It is a forest species, especially in montane forest, and also uses forest edges, clearings, bamboo, thickets and dense brush, particularly beside watercourses. It is usually found low in cover, though it can be seen higher in creepers. The species is shy and easily disturbed, and is often encountered alone or in pairs, with small family groups also noted.
