Acadian Flycatcher

Empidonax virescens

The Acadian Flycatcher is a small, olive-green songbird found in the eastern United States and parts of Central America. It is known for its distinctive peet-seet call and its preference for shady, moist deciduous forests near water. This species primarily feeds on insects, catching them in mid-air or from perches. The Acadian Flycatcher constructs cup-shaped nests in the understory of trees, often near streams or wetlands. It is a migratory bird, wintering in Central America. Conservation efforts are important to maintain suitable breeding habitat and protect this species from habitat loss and fragmentation.
