African Black Swift

Apus horus

The African Black Swift (Apus horus) is a medium-sized swift found in sub-Saharan Africa. It has a dark plumage, long and slender wings, and a distinctive forked tail. These swifts are highly aerial, spending most of their lives in flight and only landing to breed. They are often seen foraging for insects over open areas, such as savannas, grasslands, and near water bodies. African Black Swifts are known for their remarkable flying abilities, including their swift and agile maneuvers in the air. Despite their wide distribution, their population status is not well-documented, and more research is needed to determine their conservation status.
