African Blue Flycatcher, Elminia longicauda, breeds in central and western Africa and belongs to the family Stenostiridae. It is a small flycatcher with a short crest and a long tail, and its upper body and tail are bright blue. The face has black lores, the flight feathers are black with blue edges, and the underparts are greyish blue, becoming paler on the belly. The bill and legs are black. Two subspecies are recognised, with the western form reaching as far east as Nigeria and the paler form occurring in the west and south.
