African Broadbill, Smithornis capensis, is a widespread breeding bird across Africa, belonging to the family Calyptomenidae in the order Passeriformes. It lives in evergreen forest, lowland forest, dense deciduous thickets and other thick woodland, including gallery forest along rivers. The bird is stocky and flycatcher-like, with bold streaking and a mainly brown plumage. Its dark crown varies between sexes and subspecies, and the pale bases of the lower back and rump feathers are hidden when it is perched. It is also known as the black-capped broadbill and Delacour's broadbill.
