African Citril

Crithagra citrinelloides (Rüppell, 1840)

African Citril, Crithagra citrinelloides, is a finch that breeds in south Sudan, western and central Ethiopia, and western Kenya. It is a resident of woodland edges, forest edges and scrubland. It was once placed in Serinus, but is now treated in Crithagra after genetic work showed that the earlier genus did not form a natural group. It is closely related to the western citril and southern citril, and was formerly regarded as the same species as them.
