African Golden Weaver

Ploceus bicolor

The African Golden Weaver (Ploceus bicolor) is a small, brightly colored bird found in sub-Saharan Africa. Males display vibrant yellow plumage during the breeding season, while females and non-breeding males have more subdued olive-green and yellow tones. These highly social birds are known for their intricate, woven nest structures, which are often suspended from the branches of trees. They inhabit a variety of open habitats including grasslands, savannas, and wetlands, where they forage for seeds and insects. The African Golden Weaver is not currently considered to be at risk, and its population is believed to be stable.
