African Green-Pigeon

Treron calvus

The African Green-Pigeon (Treron calvus) is a medium-sized pigeon species found in the woodlands and forests of sub-Saharan Africa. These birds are known for their vibrant green plumage, with a yellow patch on the nape and a red bill. They primarily feed on fruits and are often seen in small flocks foraging in trees. Their distinctive calls can be heard as they move through the canopy. African Green-Pigeons play an important role in seed dispersal within their habitats. Despite facing some threats from habitat loss and hunting, they are currently considered to be of Least Concern by the IUCN.
