African Harrier-Hawk

The African Harrier-Hawk, also known as the Gymnogene, is a bird of prey found in sub-Saharan Africa. It is easily recognized by its distinctive double-jointed legs, which allow it to reach into crevices and extract prey. This bird has a long, broad tail and a wingspan of about 120-150 cm. Its plumage is predominantly gray with a white rump, and it has a distinctive facial pattern with a white stripe above the eye. The African Harrier-Hawk is a skilled hunter, often seen soaring over woodlands and savannas in search of small mammals, birds, and insects.
