African Olive Pigeon

Columba arquatrix

The African Olive Pigeon (Columba arquatrix) is a large, colorful pigeon species found in the woodlands and forests of sub-Saharan Africa. It is known for its distinctive olive-green plumage, with a white belly and bold white wing bars. The species is primarily frugivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits and berries, and often foraging in the forest canopy. African Olive Pigeons are important seed dispersers for many tree species. They are typically seen in pairs or small flocks, and their melodious calls can often be heard echoing through the forest. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential concerns for this species.
