African Pipit

Anthus melindae

The African Pipit (Anthus melindae) is a small, terrestrial bird found in eastern and southern Africa. It is characterized by its streaked brown upperparts, pale underparts, and a distinct pale eyebrow. This species is often found in open grasslands, agricultural fields, and savannas, where it forages for insects and seeds on the ground. The African Pipit is known for its melodious, far-carrying song, which it delivers from a prominent perch. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and agricultural intensification pose potential risks to its populations in some areas.
