African Shrike-flycatcher, Megabyas flammulatus, breeds in western and central Africa across tropical rainforest. It was described by Jules Verreaux and Édouard Verreaux in 1855 and is the only species in Megabyas. A member of Vangidae, it has an upright flycatcher-like form and a broad, hooked bill. It occurs in forested places from primary and secondary woodland to edges and old plantations, and uses undergrowth, middle levels and the canopy. Its range runs from Sierra Leone to Kenya and south to Angola, with seasonal presence in some areas.
