Alagoas Foliage-gleaner, Philydor novaesi, is a passerine of the Furnariidae family from eastern Brazil. It was first found in Murici, Alagoas, and later recorded at Frei Caneca in Pernambuco, in hilly tropical evergreen and secondary forest between 400 and 550 m. The species is known from forest with dense vine tangles, bromeliads, mosses and orchids. It was placed in Philydor and is closely linked with the black-capped foliage-gleaner. Adults share the same plumage, and the species was formally described in 1983 by Teixeira & Gonzaga.
