Fulica alai

The Alai Rail (Fulica alai) is a species of bird in the family Rallidae. It is endemic to the Alai Valley in Kyrgyzstan and is characterized by its striking black and white plumage. This medium-sized rail is typically found in marshy areas and wetlands, where it forages for aquatic invertebrates and plant matter. The Alai Rail is known for its secretive nature, making it a challenging bird to observe in the wild. Due to its restricted range and potential threats to its habitat, the conservation status of the Alai Rail is currently classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
