The Alawi, or Hawaii Creeper, is endemic to Hawaii Island. This small drab green and gray bird feeds on insects found under bark, lichens and mosses on large branches and trunks of native trees. It is critically endangered and now found only in high-elevation native forest.

Habitat: High-elevation native forest on Hawaii Island, especially mature native trees with bark, lichen and moss microhabitats.
