Alpine Accentor

Prunella strophiata

The Alpine Accentor (Prunella strophiata) is a small, sparrow-sized bird found in high-altitude mountainous regions of Europe and Asia. It is characterized by its distinctive grey plumage, with a pale throat and breast, and a rust-colored patch on its wings. This species is known for its agile and acrobatic foraging behavior, often hopping among rocks and scree in search of insects and seeds. The Alpine Accentor is well-adapted to its harsh alpine habitat, with a thick plumage that provides insulation against the cold. While not currently considered threatened, this species may face challenges from climate change and habitat disturbance.
