Glaucidium hardyi Vielliard, 1989
Amazonian Pygmy Owl Glaucidium hardyi is an owl of Amazonia in South America, placed in the Strigidae family. It was described by Vielliard in 1989. It lives in the canopy and subcanopy of tall, humid, tropical evergreen forest, from lowlands to above 1100 metres. The species is very small, with a large rounded head marked by black spots, a grey-brown crown dotted with tiny white marks, white underparts with broad streaking, and dark wings and tail patterned with white spots.
