American Bushtit, Psaltriparus minimus, breeds across North America and Middle America from south-west Canada to Guatemala. It is a passerine in the family Aegithalidae and the only member of that family found in the Americas. The bird is notable for its very small size, along with a large head and a long tail. Its breeding range runs from Vancouver through the western United States, including the Great Basin, California’s lowlands and foothills, and the highlands of Mexico. It uses mixed open woodland with oaks and scrubby chaparral, and it also occurs in gardens and parks.
