Amethyst Brown Dove

Amethyst Brown Dove, Phapitreron amethystinus, is a pigeon in the Philippines, where it occurs on Luzon, the Polillo Islands, Catanduanes, Samar, Bohol and Mindanao. It is a bird of tropical moist lowland forest and tropical moist montane forest, and is usually recorded in lowland areas though it is thought to favour middle and higher ground at 500 to 2000 m. It is generally scarce across much of its range. It is most often seen alone or in pairs, especially near fruiting trees.
