Spilornis elgini (Blyth, 1863)
Andaman Serpent Eagle, Spilornis elgini, is a bird of prey in the family Accipitridae that breeds in the Andaman Islands in the Oriental Region. It is found only on the Andaman archipelago, where it lives mainly in inland closed-canopy evergreen forest, on hillsides and in tropical lowland areas, and also uses mangroves, creeks, coastal ground and farmland. It is a dark brown eagle with a yellow face and legs, wing and chest spotting, barred tail and underwing patterning, and a hooked bill. Its call is a series of short whistles.
