Andean Hillstar, Oreotrochilus estella, is a hummingbird of South America, breeding from south-west Peru to north-west Argentina. It is a bird of the high Andes, where it lives in puna grassland, especially among rocks, and also around houses, in Puya raimondii stands and beside Polylepis woodland. The species has a medium-length slightly downcurved black bill. Adult males of the nominate form show drab brown upperparts, a glossy green throat patch edged in black, and a white underpart with a rufous stripe; females are dull brown above and below.
