Andean Lapwing, Vanellus resplendens, is a plover of the high Andes in South America, breeding from montane western Colombia south to north-western Argentina and northern Chile. It belongs to the family Charadriidae and was described by Tschudi in 1843. It is a resident bird across much of its range, though it shifts to lower ground in the austral winter. It lives in open uplands, including páramo and puna, as well as meadow edges by water and open marshes, usually close to lakes or rivers. It avoids saline water and can occur at very high elevations.
