Andean Potoo, Nyctibius maculosus, is a bird of the Nyctibiidae family that breeds in South America from Venezuela to Bolivia. It was described by Ridgway in 1912. It lives in humid montane forest, using the canopy and forest edges, and is recorded mainly along the Andes. The species is notable for its patchy presence across a small number of known sites. It is nocturnal, and during the day it rests on large branches, including ones that rise above the canopy. Its breeding is not known in detail, but it is thought to place a single egg on a branch high in the trees.
