Anna's hummingbird

Eugenes spectabilis

The Anna's hummingbird is a medium-sized hummingbird native to the western coast of North America. It is known for its stunning iridescent plumage and vibrant pink-red throat patch, called a gorget. These agile birds are adept at hovering and are often seen darting between flowers to feed on nectar. They also consume small insects as a source of protein. Anna's hummingbirds are commonly found in urban and suburban areas, as well as coastal scrub, woodlands, and gardens. Their melodious chirping and acrobatic flight displays make them a delight to observe.
