The Antarctic Petrel, or Thalassoica antarctica, is a seabird found in the Southern Ocean. It is a medium-sized petrel with a wingspan of around 120 cm. Its plumage is mostly black and white, with a dark cap and a white face. This species is well-adapted to life at sea and is often seen in large flocks, scavenging for food and following ships. The Antarctic Petrel nests in colonies on islands and coastal areas of Antarctica, where it raises its chicks in burrows. It feeds on fish, squid, and krill, and is known for its long-distance migrations. The conservation status of the Antarctic Petrel is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
