Antillean Piculet, Nesoctites micromegas, is a woodpecker of Hispaniola in North America, breeding across the main island and on Gonâve Island off Haiti. It is the only species in its genus and is set apart from other piculets. The nominate form occurs throughout Hispaniola, while N. m. abbotti is confined to Gonâve Island. It lives in humid and dry broadleaf forest, pine forest, scrub, thorn forest, mangroves, orchards and plantations, and it favours dense undergrowth. It is a year-round resident and breeds from February to July.
