Antipodes parakeet

Cyanoramphus unicolor

The Antipodes parakeet (Cyanoramphus unicolor) is a medium-sized parakeet endemic to the Antipodes Islands of New Zealand. It has a predominantly green plumage with a red crown and a blue band across the forehead. These parakeets are known for their curious and inquisitive nature, often approaching humans with little fear. They are primarily herbivorous, feeding on a variety of seeds, fruits, and plant matter. The Antipodes parakeet nests in burrows and rock crevices, and they are known for their loud and raucous calls. Due to their limited range and small population, they are vulnerable to habitat degradation and introduced predators.
