Arabian Woodpecker, Dendrocoptes dorae, breeds in the western and south-western Arabian Peninsula, including south-west Saudi Arabia and south-west Yemen. It is a woodpecker in the Picidae family and the only one known to breed on the Arabian Peninsula. The species was described in 1935 by Bates and Kinnear. Some authorities still keep it in Dendrocopos, while others place it in Dendropicos.
