Arctic Nuthatch

Sitta arctica

The Arctic Nuthatch, scientifically known as Sitta arctica, is a small bird species belonging to the nuthatch family. It is primarily found in the boreal forests of northern Eurasia and North America. This bird is known for its distinctive blue-gray upperparts and white underparts, with a black stripe through the eye. The Arctic Nuthatch is an agile forager, often seen climbing up and down tree trunks in search of insects and seeds. It builds its nest in tree cavities and is known for its loud, repetitive calls. Due to its remote and inaccessible habitat, the Arctic Nuthatch's behavior and population dynamics are not well-studied.
