Petroica archboldi
The Arfak Robin (Petroica archboldi) is a small passerine bird native to the montane forests of the Arfak Mountains in West Papua, Indonesia. It is characterized by its striking black and white plumage, with a black head, back, and wings, and a white belly and underparts. The species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard echoing through the dense vegetation of its habitat. Arfak Robins are primarily insectivorous, foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the forest understory. They are typically found in moist, mossy montane forests at elevations between 1,200 and 2,800 meters. Despite being relatively common within its restricted range, the Arfak Robin faces potential threats from habitat loss and degradation. As a result, its conservation status is currently classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
