Arizona wren

Campylorhynchus megalopterus

The Arizona wren (Campylorhynchus megalopterus) is a medium-sized wren found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is known for its distinctive white eyebrow stripe and bold black and white barring on its wings and tail. This wren is often found in arid and semi-arid habitats such as desert scrub, chaparral, and thorn-scrub, where it forages for insects and spiders in the understory and on the ground. The Arizona wren is known for its loud and melodious song, often heard during the breeding season. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential threats to this species.
