Ash-breasted Antbird, Myrmoborus lugubris, is a bird of the Amazon and its tributaries in South America, especially along river islands and nearby várzea. It was described by Cabanis in 1847. The species is closely tied to mature forest with thick undergrowth, and it is found almost entirely on river islands. Its range includes Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. It is a year-round resident. The one nest recorded was built on the ground among low plants and mossy logs, using dead leaves, leaf skeletons and a few twigs.
