Ashy-headed Laughingthrush

Argya cinereifrons (Blyth, 1851)

Ashy-headed Laughingthrush, Argya cinereifrons, is a resident breeding bird of Sri Lanka in the Oriental Region. It lives in rainforest, especially deep jungle and dense bamboo thickets in the wet zone, and is found in the forests there. It is a rangy bird with a long floppy tail, and its grey head and white throat set it apart from the rufous brown upperparts and deep buff underparts. It is usually hard to spot, but its noisy laughing calls often reveal its presence. It was described by Blyth in 1851.
