Ashy Prinia

Prinia socialis

The Ashy Prinia is a small, insectivorous bird found in South and Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive ashy-gray plumage with a rufous tail and a white belly. This species is known for its melodious and repetitive calls, often heard in open grasslands, scrublands, and agricultural areas. The Ashy Prinia is an adept and agile forager, often seen flitting among low vegetation in search of insects. It builds its cup-shaped nest in dense shrubs and lays a clutch of eggs. While the Ashy Prinia is not currently considered threatened, its habitat is increasingly fragmented due to urbanization and agricultural expansion.
