Asian Golden Weaver, Ploceus hypoxanthus, is a passerine of the weaver family that breeds from Myanmar to Java across the Oriental Region. It is tied to lowland places near water, including seasonally flooded grassland, swamps and cultivated land. The breeding male stands out with bright yellow plumage and a black facial mask, while females, non-breeding males and young birds are much less distinctive. They can be separated from Baya Weavers by their thicker bills. The species was first described by Sparrman in 1788.
