Asian House Martin

Delichon dasypus

The Asian House Martin (Delichon dasypus) is a small passerine bird found in parts of Asia. It is known for its distinctive white rump and dark blue-black upperparts. These agile birds are often seen in urban and suburban areas, nesting under eaves and bridges. They are highly social and form large flocks during migration. Asian House Martins feed on flying insects, catching them in mid-air using their acrobatic flight skills. Their populations are currently stable, and they are not considered to be at risk of extinction.
